Shrubs to small trees; to 8 m tall; branchlets quadrangular / 4-ridged. Petioles 5--15 mm long; leaf blade lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate; 8--17 x 3--6 cm; leathery; apex acuminate or acute; base cuneate-acuminate; adaxially and abaxially smooth and glabrous; lateral veins 5--9 pairs; arcuate and joining; prominent adaxially and abaxially; stipules triangular; caducous. Flowers bisexual; fragrant; 2--16 fascicled or in umbel with very short peduncle; terminal or also axillary; bracts similar to stipules. Pedicels 5--15 mm. Forests or thickets; 400--2400 m. S Yunnan [Thailand].

J. T. Johansson (1987) merged P. multiflora Ridley into Prismatomeris tetrantra (Roxb.) K. Schum. (Opera Botanica 94: 26. 1987). Y. Z. Ruan (1988) reduced P. multiflora Ridley to P. tetrantra (Roxb.) K. Schum. subsp. multiflora (Ridley) Y. Z. Ruan. As the synoptic characters of the latter fall within the range of variation of P. tetrandra subsp. tetrandra in Johansson’ account; it should be proper to include it in P. tetrandra.
