Shrubs or trees 3-12 m; glabrous. Branchlets slightly compressed; scabrous. Petiole (1-)1.5-3 cm; leaf blade obovate; obovate-lanceolate to lanceolate; sometimes elliptic; 5-11 x 1.5-4 cm; thin leathery; adaxially shiny; base attenuate; apex obtuse to short caudate; primary veins 7 or 8 on each side of midrib; slightly raised. Panicles axillary or terminal; 2-7.5 cm. Pedicel 1-2 mm. Calyx 0.5-1 mm; lobes deltate; ca. 0.5 mm; acute. Corolla white; 2-3 mm; lobes oblong; acute or rounded; united in pairs at base; extended in full bloom. Drupe ripening blue-black; ellipsoid; 1.3-1.5 cm x 8-9 mm; with several longitudinal ribs. Fl.
