Erect shrubs to small trees; 1.5--6 m tall; branchlets slightly compressed; yellowish appressed short stigose. Leaves with petioles 3--8 mm long; appressed strigillose; oblong-orbicular; oblong-anceolate or oblanceolate; 7--20(--25) x 3--7 cm; apex acuminate or shortly acuminate; base broadly cuneate; adaxially glabrous or subglabrous; abaxially papillous puberulent; appressed pubescent along veins; lateral veins 7--12 pairs; adaxoally depressed; abaxially prominent; stipules membranous; ovate-oblong; 8--10 mm long; apex aristate; abaxially appressed strigillose. Inflorescence densely ferruginous strigillose; bracts linear; hairy. Flowers with pedicels 3--5 mm long; hairy. Calyx tube c. 2 mm long; slightly appressed ferruginous strigillose; limb slightly expanded; lobes linear; 4--5 mm long; spreading; hairy outside; glabrous inside; apex acuminate. Corolla white; densely appressed ferruginous strigillose outside; tube slendar; 16--18 mm long; lobes distinctly veined; 4--5 mm long; apex acute; filaments very short or absent; anthers linear- oblong; c. 3 mm long; connective slightly extrude. Ovary 2-celled; ovule 1 per cell; style slendar; c. 3 mm long; pilose at middle; stigma subellipsoid; scabrous. Fruit a berry; compressed globose; 7--10 mm long; 10--12 mm in diameter; crowned with annular persistent calyx limb. Seeds compressed globose; 5--6 mm in length and width; abaxially ridged; adaxially slightly flattened. Fl. Apr--Jun.
