Shrubs; 1--3 m tall; barks brown; smooth; glabrous except inflorescences puberulent; branchlets slightly compressed when young; longitudinally lineate; terete when old; grayish brown; internodes 2.5--4 cm long. Petioles 10--15 mm long; leaf blade broadly lanceolate or oblong- lanceolate; 10--20(--23) x 3--7 cm; papery; apex long acuminate; base rounded; rarely broadly cuneate; midrib and lateral veins slightly prominent adaxially and abaxially; lateral veins 10--15 pairs; indistinctly joining away from margin; transverse veins sparse/alienated; indistinct; stipules 10 mm long; caducous; upper part abruptly narrowed and aristate. Corymbs terminal; many-flowered; peduncle short or subsessile; branches dark red; first order ones 1--2.5 cm long. Flowers pedicellate; lateral ones with longer pedicels; central ones with shorter pedicels or subsessile; bracts linear-lanceolate; 2 mm long; apex acuminate; bracteoles linear; minute. Calyx tube 1.8--2 mm long; lobes long-triangular; shorter than Calyx tube. Corolla white or reddish; tube 3--4 mm long at blooming; glabrous at throat; lobes 4; lanceolate; 5--7 mm long; apex acute. Filaments short; 1--1.5 mm long; anthers exserted; linear-lanceolate; 3--3.5 mm long. Style 4--5 mm long; stigma connivent at first; furcate later. Fruit globose; bright red at maturity; 7--8 mm in diameter; apex with remnants of calyx limbs. Fl. Jul--Sep.
