Shrubs; 1-3 m tall; branches and branchlets densely villous. Leaves coriaceous; oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate; 15-21 cm long; 4-7 cm broad; the apex caudate-acuminate; the base broadly cuneate to sub-rounded; rounded or slightly cordate; glabrous above; densely villous beneath; nerves 7-12 pairs; nervules parallel to sub reticulate; nerves and nervules elevated conspicuously beneath; petioles 5-10 mm long; densely brown villous; stipules inconspicuous to stipules triangular. Cymes shortly peduncled; peduncles densely villous; bracts numerous; linear or filiform; 6-12 mm long; densely brown villous. Flowers sessile; calyx tube 4 mm long; sparsely pilose outside; with usually 6 lobes; calyx lobes linear- lanceolate; 3 mm long; densely pilose; corolla c. 7 mm long; the tube 4 mm long; with 5 lobes; the lobes oblong; 3 mm long; densely hairy outside. Fruits subglobose or obovate; 4 mm diam.; hairy or subglabrous; slightly longitudinally angled; crowned with calyx lobes; pyrenes 4-5.
