Leaves ovate to ovate-lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate; 3?10 ? 2?7 cm; papery or thickly so; abaxially adpressed hirsute and with red-brown glands on veins also on petiole and peduncle; very rarely tomentose; adaxially sparsely adpressed hirsute or subglabrous; base rounded or truncate to shallowly cordate; margin sometimes undulate; [margin??] ciliate; apex acute or acuminate. Peduncle and petioles very short; bracts leaflike; lanceolate to ovate; large; to 1.5 cm; with same indumentum as leaves; bracteoles connate into an urceolate cup; completely surrounding 2 neighboring calyx tubes; ca. 2.5 mm in diam.; to 7?13 mm when fruit matures; outside with dense; long and short; straight stiff hairs when young; inside adpressed villous. Calyx lobes triangular; ciliate; apex ? acute. Corolla white; later yellowish; (1.3?)1.5?1.7(?2) cm; outside densely reflexed hirsute and spreading hispid and glandular hairy; very rarely glabrous or slightly hairy; inside villous; bilabiate; tube slightly longer than or subequaling labia; upper labium shallowly 4-lobed; lower labium recurved; long; slender.
