???? Trees to 15 m tall. Branches brown to dark gray; rusty-sericeous; soon glabrate. Petiole 5--10 mm; appressed-sericeous to glabrate; leaf blade narrowly elliptic; oblong; lanceolate; or oblanceolate; 8--20 X 3--7.5 cm; papery to subleathery; abaxially densely rusty sericeous but soon sparsely appressed pubescent to glabrate; adaxially shiny and glabrous; base broadly cuneate to decurrent; apex acute to short acuminate and sometimes with a 3--9 mm acumen; lateral veins 8--12 pairs; arcuately ascending; and prominent on both surfaces. Inflorescences terminal or leaf-opposed; 1-flowered. Flowers 5--10 cm in diam. Pedicel 3--5 cm; rusty pubescent. Sepals broadly ovate; 1.5--2 X 1.3--1.7 cm; pubescent to sparsely pubescent; apex obtuse to apiculate. Petals in 2 whorls; yellowish green; subequal; broadly obovate; 2.2--4 X 1.2--3 cm; thick-papery when dry; appressed tomentulose; apex obtuse to rounded. Stamens oblong; attenuate at base; connective apically truncate; puberulous; concealing anther locules. Carpels green; linear; 1.5--2 mm; rusty appressed pubescent; ovules 1 or 2 per locule; basal. Fruiting pedicels 4.5--10 X 0.2--0.5 cm; stipes 2--7 cm; pubescent to glabrate; carpels numerous; ripening dark brown; gray-black when dry; ellipsoidal to ovoid; 1--1.6 X 0.8--1.1 cm; glabrate; apex dilated; with 1 or 2 seeds. Seeds ellipsoidal; 11--12 X ca. 8 mm. Fl. Mar--Aug; fr. Sep--Dec.
